2020 Womens Gold Reports REPORTS

R2: Camille up and down against Tinne

R2: [3] Camille Serme (FRA) 3-0 [16] Tinne Gilis (BEL)        11-8, 11-6, 11-7 (30m)

A bit of a wobbly start from the French woman today, soon corrected as she overtook her opponent from 1/3, 4/6, 6/6, 7/7, 9/7. Camille was not as efficient in that opener as she can be – credit to Tinne’s coverage – but she managed to close it out 11/8 in 11m.

Second game, too many errors from Tinne who kept finding herself at the wrong end of long rallies, but looked pretty tired all game to be honest, 11/6 Camille in 7.

Tinne recovered a bit in the third game, found some lovely long winners, and was still in it at 5/6, but never she was able to put real pressure on the French lady who closed it out in 9m, 11/7.

Tinne

Definitely not my best performance.

As I feared, I struggled to get into the rhythm. I hadn’t had a squash match for 3 days, yesterday was like 6 m on court, and I was dreading that struggle.

I think Camille was a bit nervous in the beginning, she made a few errors, but after that, she knew what she had to do. If I was playing myself today, I would have known what to do, it was pretty obvious!

Still, all credit to Camille, I really love her, she is an amazing player, and a fantastic person, on and off court. I have so much respect for her, for what she is achieving. And it was the first time to play her, I didn’t know what to expect…

A poor end of 2020.

Camille

Thanks Fram!

I think we were both a bit up and down. There were some good rallies and some not so accurate shots from both of us. I was trying to get my length, I think I was less accurate than yesterday, so the whole three games I was just thinking about finding the targets.

There are two players who are pregnant, but there are still so many good players out there like you saw today with Nele against Hania. Hania is in good form and still she struggled today, of course there is Sherbini and Nouran, SJ and Amanda. I’m not thinking about Raneem and Nour not being here, I’m just concentrating on my tournament and match after match.
