Adel out after positive COVID test

Yathreb Adel has tested positive for COVID-19 following a PCR test taken on 2nd December prior to the CIB Black Ball Squash Open.

Before joining the ‘tournament bubble’, all players are required to take a PCR test prior to travelling to the event hotel as well as another PCR test the day before the tournament begins. Further tests are then taken every four days during tournaments in accordance with PSA’s strict COVID-19 protocols.

Following her positive test, Adel has withdrawn from the Women’s Open, which will be held at the Black Ball Sporting Club in Cairo from December 7th to 12th Dec.

Adel’s place in the draw as the No.16 seed is taken by Belgium’s Tinne Gilis, who will now face England’s Mille Tomlinson in the first round of the PSA Gold level tournament.

USA’s Haley Mendez will take the spot left by Gilis in the draw, and will face the No.15 seed Nadine Shahin in the first round.
