Day SIX : SEMI-FINALS

Farag and Gawad through to all-Egyptian final

Ali Farag and Karim Abdel Gawad will contest the final of the inaugural Black Ball Squash Open after contrasting semi-final victories tonight in front of a packed crowd and a massive television audience.

Farag took the first two games comfortably against a somewhat subdued Paul Coll, and although the Kiwi saved three match balls and earned one of his own  in the third, Farag reasserted to close out the match.

As an added bonus, should he win the final tomorrow he will become the new world #1 in January.

Gawad and Tarek Momen fought out a ferocious four game battle with the crowd, and the referee, getting involved frequently. Momen led the throughout the first game but Gawad took it at the death, then after Momen had levelled he again edged the third.

The fourth was tense all the way, Momen got to game ball first but Gawad, looking desperately tired, somehow kept going and on his third match ball a video decision gave a no let to Momen, and Gawad collapsed, exhausted!
